Some ominous tech signs for 2007?
There has been some fairly ominous signs in the industry recently. Intel's price has dropped further. Same thing happened to IBM's stock even though they did show a fairly profitable quarter. Motorola has just announced 3,500 job cuts. Intel is expected to announce further job cuts in the near future after their 10,000+ jobs cut last year. The EU might file antitrust charges against Intel. Apple stocks took a pounding. Steve Jobs might face criminal charges. HP has overtaken Dell in PC sales. Acer is set to overtake both of them this year. Interesting way to start 2007.
I don't think that this is the end of the weird news either. There doesn't seem to be much in terms of new things expected in 2007. This is one of those years where things are just expected to just move on. There are no really revolutionary things expected this year. And the tech industry, depends on injection of new ideas to move forward. However, I do see hope in the near future though. I'm not quite sure if this inflexion period is a good or bad one. I sure hope that it continues to turn up after this as I should be graduating next year.
