Chamonix Day #7
This was our last full day of skiing. However, some of us were already quite tired. YiFan decided not to ski today. ShuangNing and I only did half a day before coming back. As the snow on Le-Tour wasn't that good yesterday, everyone went to Brevent today. We tackled a couple of new blue slopes and decided to call in the day. By the end of the second blue slope, I was too tired to even make proper turns and ended up crashing into soft snow a few times. However, straight line speeds were cool as the slope was quite steep.
In the afternoon, the three of us went out shopping in Chamonix. Daniel wanted me to get him a Kandahar shirt, which I did. Also, we had decided to get Jean-Michel a bottle of wine as a sign of appreciation (he's the smiling gray haired dude in the picture). We ended up picking a 30 euro bottle of red wine. When the shop keeper first told me that good wine was expensive and showed me an example of the price, I just told her 'pas probleme'. So, she helped us pick up a nice bottle.
Later that evening, we presented our instructor with the bottle of wine during our parting drinks. We spoke a little about the different things between Malaysia and France. We also learned the reason why French people do not speak English. Jean-Michel was really happy when he got the wine and held onto it like a little kid. He also gave us his signature 'Yahoooo'. We shook hands and that was that. He wanted to give ShuangNing a little peck on the cheek but she was too shy. Too bad for her.
