Chamonix Day #6

Today, I had a great time skiing. I took on the blue slopes and survived!! In the morning, while everyone else was visiting the peaks, I took an hour out to practice my skiing on the green slopes. Once the problem with the boots was solved, I could make all the turns without any problems. I travelled several hundred meters down the green slopes, while turning left and right, without any problem at all. So, I decided to join everyone for the blue slopes in the afternoon.

The first run through the blue slopes was interesting. The initial bit was fairly difficult due to the steepness of the slope. However, on my second run, I managed to complete the whole blue slope without falling down at all. Although at one point I did do something really stupid that almost got myself hurt badly.

I was resting in the middle of the blue slope as I was a little tired. So, I lay down on the slope and stared into the sky. However, I didn't realise that I was lying down after a small ledge. So, people coming from above me wouldn't be able to see me. Suddenly I heard someone curse, looked up and saw this snowboarder trying his best to brake. If he had chosen to fly off the ledge (like most boarders do) it is likely that he wouldn't have stopped in time. However, he did. I apologised to him, got up and continued skiing on my way.

In the evening, we had a live band to entertain us. Actually, every evening, we had different activities to do as well. The hostel organised salsa, dancing, karaoke and other activities as well during the evenings. So, we were all kept fully occupied. Really worth the money leh this holiday.
