Chamonix Day #1

Nothing too spectacular happened on our first day there. We arrived at Geneva on our Easyjet flight. The most interesting thing at the airport was the lack of border security. The customs officer didn't even bother to look at my passport. He handed it back to me after just giving the cover (which said "Pasport Malaysia") a cursory glance. It took me all of 2 seconds to cross the Swiss customs. I theorise that the easiest place in the world to run to (in case anyone ever gets into trouble with the law) is Switzerland.

After getting to our UCPA hostel, we were checked in. We didn't have much to do on the first day except to hang around. There were plenty of games to play at the UCPA hostel. There were two PS2 machines and many table-top/board games. So, we spent some time playing the games there. Later that night, we all went to bed ready for anything. I discovered a couple of interesting things about my two new S'porean friends. YiFan sleeps and wakes up early. He says that this is the result of his army days. ShuangNing was the only one who actually mugged while at the hostel (though Chris did bring some things to lessen his guilt as well).

Update: In case anyone was wondering, Chamonix is in France but the closest airport is Geneva. And there wasn't any check when we crossed the Frech-Swiss border either. The customs officers were too busy chatting with each other to bother with us.
