Novell is going down

more backlash from the ms-novell deal... almost everyone is coming up in arms now... the blogosphere is throbbing.. even novell and ms had to release official statements regarding this issue yesterday... this is starting to turn into a scandal/fiasco..

i believe... that if novell does not do "the right thing" and step back from this, they're going to go down... the open source community will take them down... suse will come crashing down... and that will spell the end of another once great distro...

indemnifying their customers may sound like a good idea at first, however, you'd first need a product to sell to your customers... if the open source community pulls out of suse, novell will have nothing to indemnify it's customers for!! silly them...

if i can be sure of one thing.. i'm sure that novell is not going to survive this unscathed... however they choose act now, the damage has been done... no one will forget how novell double crossed the open source community... and tried to screw around with the GPL... i just hope that they can survive it...

however, IBM has still remained silent on this subject... i wonder if it'll take another SCO type debacle to bring them out, guns blazing... the GPL needs to be tested in court and enforced... that's the biggest problem... it has not been really tested as yet...

UPDATE: over at groklaw, they've got a nice article about this..
UPDATE: even IHT is in on this story now... hooo... maxi big this scandal is becoming...
