AGM Answers

i've heard that there were some points raised by the previous committee, during the AGM, about my conduct during my term... well, i just felt that it needed to be answered in case people got the wrong impression.. maybe i should've attended the AGM just to defend against silly accusations like this..

Query: the PG rep has not attended meetings since Feb..

Answer: how many meetings have there been since feb?? well, easter term, all the UG were sooo busy with tripos.. i was the one with the most free time on my hands... summer?? all in m'sia except me.. michaelmas 2006?? i dun even want to go there..

Rebut: why was i kept away from ANY meeting??

"Good job to everyone on the Malaysian Nite!

Anyway, I attach below the suggested topics for the Forum on the 11th. Do please review it and give any suggestions you may have. Otherwise, this list will be final.

See you all on Wednesday at 7.00 pm at XXXX's place!"

"It was decided immediately after the Malaysian Nite, where we had a short gathering. We couldn't find you Shawn, so we started off. Anyway, the meeting's going on as planned as otherwise it would be too late. Shawn, you can get the minutes from XXXX to find out what's going on, and what you are supposed to do (if anything)."

"that is not an excuse.. mnite was on sunday.. i was at churchill the whole of sunday since 10.30am.. you could have asked me about it any time.. if it was decided on sunday, why wait till tuesday to tell me about it and then tell me that it's too late to change.. that's just plain irresponsible..

in the future, i suggest that we keep a fixed meeting time.. say, every other friday night or something.. it's better than setting up adhoc meetings without all the members of the committee being present.."

"Without going into petty matters, I will make this brief.

Did I not tell you that there would be a very brief gathering? Or did anyone else not tell you? If that really was the case, I do apologise for my oversight for not letting you know personally, or checking to see if you did know until Tuesday.

However, I will not apologise for the fact that the meeting will proceed as planned on Wednesday. It was decided by the 9 of us who were present to have an urgent meeting, and the usual time (Thurs as was suggested) was deemed too late to hold it. I hope you will understand that."

"i'm not talking about petty matters.. this is a matter of proper procedure.. well.. if you think that you're doing the right thing.. then, don't apologise.. that's the right thing to do..

i still propose that we fix a regular meeting time.. not do any more of these adhoc things.. last time it affected my rowing schedule (if you all remember).. this time my MCR activities.. both times i wasn't consulted on my availability.." [ed: this was not the first time.. ]

unless anything else comes up, this'll probably be my last blog about cumas.. however, if anyone wishes to throw anymore accusations (regarding my conduct) they're free to do so.. but straight to my face please..
