Student politics
just spoke to my hsemate today.. interesting chat about chinese student
politics... it's kinda scary when the government gets involved in student
body elections... it makes me feel kinda sick... but then these students are
also aspiring politicians... but the system is just scary.. it's all very
well organised and hierarchical... ordered...
then, i came to realise, that our m'sian student bodies are organised in a
similar way as well... it's just that, i've never been political, and never
bothered to be involved in the system... and actually tried to stay out of
the system..
the only reason i ran for the position in cumas + cumsa was for enjoyment +
fun... it wasn't for any hidden/latent political ambition.. i just wanted to
have some fun doing some student things while i still can.. i spent most of
my secondary school/undergrad years working on business stuff.. i can still
remember pulling >36 hour days (i slept alternate nights) for weeks working
on business proposals...
not that i regret any of it... not at all... all the things i've done have
given me a very unique realm of experience... i've been in contact with some
very rich people, done the vc circuit and made some contacts, and have
various contacts in ngos, technical organisations... all these will
definitely help me in the future..
however, i've also realised what i've missed.. student life is cool... it's
the last bit of carefree fun a person can have before confronting the
realities of life... i just wanted a last taste of it before i venture out
and do my thing... it's like having one last fling...
